PhD candidate, Abby Stevens, awarded the David Wallace Award for Applied Statistics.

Statistics PhD student Sen Na has been awarded the prestigious Harper
Dissertation Fellowship for 2020-21.  The University-wide competition awards
financial support toward the completion of the candidate's dissertation.
 

The Peter Gavin Hall Early Career Prize recognizes early-career research accomplishments and research promise in statistics, broadly construed. The inaugural recipient of the 2020 Peter Hall Prize is Rina Foygel Barber, Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Chicago.  Read more

Congratulations to Prof. Wei Biao Wu for being elected to receive a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Lek-Heng Lim, Associate Professor in Statistics and the Computational and Applied Mathematics Initiative, has been named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) for 2020 for his contributions to applied mathematics, particularly numerical linear algebra. 

William H. Kruskal Instructor Daniel Massatt Awarded the 2019 SIAM Student Paper Prize for PhD Thesis Research

The Department's annual Consulting Award was presented to Ph.D. candidate Keshav Vemuri on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 1:00 pm in Jones 111.

PhD candidate, Yuxin Zou, awarded the David Wallace Award for Applied Statistics.

Prof. Stephen M. Stigler, Ernest DeWitt Burton Distinguished Service Professor, has been awarded the Arthur L. Kelly Prize for exceptional service in the Physical Sciences Division.

We are pleased to congratulate Prof. Steven Lalley for receiving a Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring this year.

Statistics PhD Peter Panov has been awarded the prestigious Harper Dissertation Fellowship for 2019-20. The University-side competition awards financial support toward the completion of the candidate’s dissertation.

PhD student Wanrong Zhu is the recipient of the Elaine K. Bernstein Women in Science Award. The award provides additional assistance for student research and travel.

Per A. Mykland, Robert Maynard Hutchins Distinguished Service Professor in Statistics and Finance, has been named a recipient of the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship.

PhD student Haoyang Liu has received a Physical Sciences Endowed Fellowship award for his work within our doctoral program.
