DEADLINES

  • Diagnostic Exam
    Students will be emailed the exam starting September 11. All new students must complete the take-home diagnostic exam and email it to their faculty advisor by Friday, September 15. Your advisor will need time to review your exam before approving your course registration. If you cannot find your advisor, email your exam to Keisha Prowoznik at kprowoznik@uchicago.edu.

  • Course Registration
    New and returning students should meet with advisors, register online, and email advisor-approved registration forms to Keisha Prowoznik no later than Friday, September 22, at noon.

Wednesday, September 13

  • Incoming international students are invited to attend an international student orientation hosted by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). This orientation is not required but may be a helpful resource for incoming international students. OIA will cover a variety of topics including a general overview of OIA services, important reminders, information about maintaining status, information about employment for international students, and ways to get involved in the international student community at the University of Chicago.

  • Orientation Meeting for Incoming MS Students
    11:00 am -12:00 pm
    Location: Eckhart 133
    Prof. Mei Wang and Student Affairs Specialist Keisha Prowoznik will provide an overview of the MS academic program.  
    Required for: all new MS students
    **MS students can receive a key to the MS student office anytime during orientation week or thereafter. **
  • Orientation Meeting for Incoming PhD Students
    11:15 am-12:15 pm
    Location: Jones 303
    Prof. Yali Amit and Student Affairs Specialist Keisha Prowoznik will provide an overview of the PhD academic program and give a brief tour of the student office.
    Required for: all new PhD students
    **PhD students receive their desks**
  • Library Resources Information Session
    2:00 pm—2:30 pm
    Location: Eckhart 133
    Jennifer Hart, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science Librarian, will give an overview of library services and resources available to all students.
