Job Databases

  • University of Florida
Largest list of academic positions at large universities, including postdoc listings.  Industry listings are included, often in biostatistics.
  • Purdue University
Includes medium- and large-university positions.  Application deadlines and degree requirements are listed on the front page, rather than just in the detailed job descriptions.
  • AMS (American Mathematical Society)
Posts many positions, sometimes at a rate of several per day, with particular emphasis on small colleges looking for one or two statisticians for a math department.  Use keyword “statistics” to pare listings down.
  • Math Jobs
Subset of AMS listings, though sometimes includes unique posts.
  • Chronicle of Higher Education
Emphasizes smaller schools.  Does not have a biostat category; however, listings are sparse enough for browsing.
  • IMS (Institute of Mathematical Statistics)
Sparse listings of faculty positions, often with an emphasis on research.  Site features great search tools, but usually not enough listings to require complicated searches.

  • Public Health Jobs
Administered by the Association of Schools of Public Health.  Includes many jobs outside of the US.  Advanced search allows listings to be narrowed by location and industry.
  • Public Health Employment Connection
Administered by the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory.  Often has dozens of new postings per day.  Search functionality is not sophisticated, but allows narrowing by location and industry.
  • American Public Health Association
Primarily biostatistics listings in the US and Canada.
  • Operations Research and Management
Operations research, decision science and other primarily for-profit research positions.
  • PsycCareers
Administered by the American Psychological Association.  Most jobs listed require specific psych credentials, but some statistical and psychometric positions are posted.  Search functionality does not allow specifying this.
  • Science

Mixed Academia and Industry

  • American Statistical Association JobWeb
Be sure to search both the online job list and the 65 Word Ads; they have different postings.  During the fall, the sites focus on academia.  At other times of year, the lists are more industry-focused.
  • Math Jobs
Not to be confused with the AMS database, this site sorts posts by country.  The majority of listings are from Austria, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.
  • North Carolina State University
Simple blog set-up, with broad category tags (“Academic,” “Biostatistician,” “Financial,” etc.) and simple search functionality.  Postings tend to be for southern and mid-Atlantic states.
Blog format, can be filtered by region or industry type. Can be searched by location and keywords. Many international listings.
  • University of Washington-Seattle
Modest list with only simple search functionality.  Most listings appear in other databases.
  • Statistical Society of Canada
Only a few new posts per month, all for jobs in Canada.

  • Smith Hanley
Offers connections to positions in finance, data analysis, marketing, and more.
Specifically for math PhDs, though most of jobs allow for statistics PhDs.  Postings heavily emphasize business, especially quantitative analysis.
  • Analytic Recruiting
Emphasis on quantitative analysis and modeling.
  • SAS Jobs
Primarily features SAS programming jobs, though some analytic positions are included.
  • iCrunchData
Wide range of business positions.  Many, but not all, involve SAS.
