Research
I specialize in numerical analysis. Currently, I am investigating a class of techniques for reducing the variance of Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations. These techniques apply to a wide variety of problems in statistics, biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science.
I am particularly interested in applications to computational statistical physics and the simulation of rare events. I am also interested in atomistic-to-continuum couplings, which are methods for the simulation of defects in crystalline materials.
