Title: Topics in Statistical Genetics
Instructor: Dat Do
Class Schedule: Sec 1: TR 11:00 AM–12:20 PM in TBA
Description: This course surveys modern topics and models in statistical and population genetics. We will identify core research questions in genetics, such as Genome-wide Association Studies (regression, LD score regression, fine-mapping) and modeling DNA sequences. We then introduce statistical tools that can help solve these problems, including high-dimensional linear regression, hierarchical and Empirical Bayes, and Hidden Markov models. The course will be suitable for statistics students who want to start working in genetics and biology students who want a deeper understanding of statistical models.
