Title: Random Growth Model and the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang Equation
Instructor(s): Yier Lin
Teaching Assistant(s): TBA
Class Schedule: Sec 1: MW 9:00 AM–10:20 AM in Jones 303
Textbook(s): TBA
Description: In this course, we will show how a variety of physical systems and mathematical models, including randomly growing interfaces, queueing systems, stochastic PDEs, and traffic models, all demonstrate the same universal statistical behaviors in their long-time/large-scale limit. These systems are said to lie in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class. We will also study a central object in this universality class: the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation.
